So who is AllanJames?
I really hate talking about myself but in fairness to you, who may be considering teaming up with me, or buying one of my products, whatever, I’m going to force myself to do it and, hopefully, do it without too much bias or ego.
Only time will tell how well I do, but here goes ……..
Our childhood tends to set the pattern
of who we will be later in life – unless
we take control of it at some point.
I was born in Southern New Zealand, the eldest son of two alcoholic, and one violently abusive, parent and grew up with low self esteem and self worth, and a tendency to be an angry and violently inclined young man.
I never graduated High School and am told I was fond of saying that all I learned there was how to chase girls and roll cigarettes one handed. I did however qualify as the highest ranked non-commissioned army cadet at the school and I went on later to join the New Zealand Army Territorial Force, serving until I reached my retiring age for rank eighteen years later.
Redundancy, the scourge of the modern
working life!
Despite my complete academic failure I managed to qualify as an electrician and worked at this trade until I experienced my first, and only, taste of redundancy at age 42 during the economic downturn in New Zealand in the early 80′s.
Big shock at the time!! Redundancy was almost unheard of in New Zealand before this and everyone tended to enjoy the security of having a job for life, or plenty of readily available jobs if they wanted to move on at any time. To make it even worse my wonderful family (wife and two boys) were suffering without my income coming in. Not a good time for anyone!
It’s completely different for everyone these days isn’t it, with experts predicting that everyone will suffer the upheaval and financial loss of redundancy about three times in their life. The ‘old days’ of job security are well and truly gone!
Deciding to be my own
boss – a great decision!
After about five months of failing to get another job I finally realized I needed to do something different. I needed to become my own boss. To control my own 
future, and I started my own one man electrical business, operating initially out of the back of our family car.
I ended up owning a number of brick and mortar businesses for over 15 years before, in 2005 and in the last six months of completing a four year contract with primary responsibility for security at the New Zealand Embassy, Moscow, Russia, I decided to start a business online in order to gain the financial and personal freedom such businesses offer to committed people.
Chasing ‘the quick bucks’
online – until I met Darryl Graham.
I was fortunate to stumble upon ISORegister and the owner, Darryl Graham, before the many mistakes I was making drove me to bankruptcy and have been associated with him ever since.
It was Darryl that taught me that you didn’t really have a business until you developed a List (an email database of prospects/customers) and that the idea so many have of getting rich overnight online was simply a ruse promoted by unscrupulous program owners as a way of sucking you in and emptying your pocket. And empty it they surely did <frown> until I wised up.
I discovered that it was essential to learn the basics of working online – to become an expert on the basics, make some money from that knowledge and only then move on to the more exotic aspects of working online. As Darryl put it ‘to walk before I tried to run’
Discovering personal development
and a mentor.
It was about this time that I discovered the power of personal development and used the principles to turn my life, my attitude and my low self esteem around and develop into the person I now am known to be today. I give all credit for this to the late Jim Rohn, the acclaimed business philosopher, who became my primary mentor and example. What a guy – profound principles given to me in very simple terms.
Has everything gone smoothly during
my almost five years online now?
No way! I seem to have made every possible mistake at least twice, and can’t count the number of times I’ve been distracted by that latest and greatest big opportunity that’s come down the track. But I’ve always had my List and the basic marketing skills I’ve learned and been able to correct and recover quickly.
Here are the principles I’ve learned, and built my success on,
and I offer them now to you:
- Become an expert on the basics before you seek the exotic. Learn the ‘Internet 101′s as I call them, and become an expert at them.
- There are no quick riches online. Riches are there, but success takes time. Spend that time.
- Develop and nurture a List. It will be your biggest business asset and the source of much of your wealth.
- Don’t dig for gold. Sell the shovels. Sell the essential services everyone needs to succeed online (Hosting, Autoresponders, Ad and URL tracking, Capture and webpage builders, Top class training etc.)
- Develop a residual income that you can rely on to come in for years and years with little, if any, ongoing effort from you. This is one of the very few ways to gain personal and financial freedom and the time to enjoy it. Take it from me, there is no greater gift than freedom.
- Don’t do all the work yourself. Outsource the routine. Use multi-tier affiliate programs, some of which offer lifetime commissions on all future sales.
- Find a mentor you can respect and trust. Your mentor(s) will be the second biggest asset in your business success. Be open and honest with your mentor, listen and put their recommendations into practice.
- Commit to an ongoing program of personal development. Who you are now has got you to where you are now. Who you will become will get you to where you want to go in the future. Your success will be determined by the value you bring to the marketplace.
- Be completely honest and ethical online. You cannot hide and your reputation is everything.
- Determine to be free, and take consistent action to achieve it.
I wanted to be free – and
became committed to achieving it
I realized shortly after I was made redundant that my future lifestyle would be unacceptably modest if I relied on any government or corporation to provide it, and it was this realization that has driven me to achieve the success I now enjoy. Freedom, there’s nothing like it!
Now as a successful affiliate enjoying the lifestyle and freedom of working, if you can call it that, out of the comfort of my home, I concentrate on multi-tier affiliate programs as my primary residual income producer and in helping my rapidly growing team of affiliates to develop the freedom I enjoy so much. The freedom to work when, as much and as often as I want, to wander the world for months at a time when I want, to snooze in the sun mid morning when I want, to enjoy all the little, but important things, that freedom brings.
