Are You Getting The Maximum Benefits From Your Articles?

As an content author myself I want you to succeed. In fact, I want you to do more than just succeed, I want you to excel.

Unfortunately, I see a lot of people who publish articles failing to maximize the potential of those articles; and in talking with many of you I’ve discovered that a lot of the reason for that is simply a lack of good information on how to do it with the least amount of effort, and to get the most rewards.

So, I wanted to give you a no-fluff, bare-bones list of simple and quick things which you can do that can quickly take your article marketing efforts up to new levels.

I encourage you to try these things, even just try a couple of them, with each of your articles and see what sort of difference it makes for you.

This list of actions is in no particular order. All, and each of these steps can create dramatic improvements to your online marketing and branding campaigns.

1) Share your work
Making use of the bookmarking options. The Like button, Tweet This button, and Google +1 buttons are great ways to re-engage with people who are already in your social network circles. By the way, if you enjoy this article, please share it. If you’re on Google+ (and you should be ) how about hitting the Google+ button below this article.

Many Internet marketers often overlook the value of repeat traffic, but that’s the most valuable traffic in almost any business.

These are people who have already said “I trust you and want to get more from you”. By sharing your articles with them, you’re saying “hey, I’ve published this great entertaining/informative article and think you would enjoy it”.

It’s a simple and quick way to get their eyeballs back on your content, and since you already have a relationship with them through the social network(s) they are more likely than other first-time readers to click your resource links and engage back with you after reading the article.

2) To get rewards, focus on rewards
One of the most common elements among articles I see published that receive lots of reader click-throughs to the author’s resource links is that those articles focus on benefits (rewards) for the reader.

For example, if your article is promoting a specific product or service, it is 70 times more likely to encourage readers to click your resource links if the article talks about the benefits of having or using the product or service, rather than just describing the product and its features.

Lets say you’re promoting a certain type of carpet cleaning product. It’s fine to mention something like the product being environmentally friendly, but that’s a feature. What would have more of an impact based on my experience, would be to focus on how quick and easy it is to remove tough stains with your product. That’s a benefit (or reward) that readers respond better to over features or details.

3) Experiment with your link anchor text
A lot of sources say that your anchor text (or call to action) should clearly direct readers on what to do, such as saying “Click Here”. And many other sources say that it’s better to use your keywords as anchor text to get the SEO benefits, and make the links appear more natural to readers. Experiment and find out what works best for you.

4) Use your author profile page to build trust
Visitor tracking analytics have shown that many visitors will read an article, and then check out the article author’s profile page before either going back to the article and clicking on one of the author’s resource links, or moving on to another article from another author. This means your profile page is a chance to either attract or lose these visitors in an instant.

A simple reason is people want to know who they are dealing with and taking advice or suggestions from before acting on it.

By making sure you provide a little background information with your Bio, a picture and avatar, and your site address and Twitter account (if you have one), you can show visitors who land on your profile that they are dealing with a real person, and give them a reason to trust your words and suggestions by establishing credentials of education and experience in your Bio.

There you have it. Four quick things you could do, and it probably took you longer to read about them than it will to actually take to do them, that could have a major impact for you.

I have a few hints to help you get the best out of Internet Forum Marketing. Until I started to do PPC, marketing forums were my highest converting method!

One aspect of Internet marketing that I suspect most newbie marketers tend to neglect is the importance of participating in forum marketing using forums that most relate to whatever niche they are working in.

The internet forum marketing hints below will help you be to get the most out of your efforts.

Why is forum marketing so important?

There is no better way to learn how to make money online than by interacting with the people who are actually doing it. Internet marketing forums are filled with people who are more than happy to answer your questions or help you out with a problem you are having. In most cases all you need to do is ask.

There is also the networking aspect of participating in Forum Marketing. It always helps to get to know who the big players in any industry are but it’s even more important that they get to know who you are. Internet marketing forums are a great way to socialize and interact with these people get to get to know them on a more personal level.

Even just reading other peoples posts will give you forum marketing hints that you can use.

And of course there is the traffic you gain from forum marketing!

While you usually can’t openly promote your affiliate links on Internet marketing forums you can often add them to your signature which appears beneath all of your posts. The more posts you add to the forum the more likely your signature will be noticed by other forum members. If you’re lucky the thread you are posting in might even get picked up by some of the major search engines giving you even more valuable traffic to your links.

But no spamming is allowed by anyone doing forum marketing!

You can’t join an Internet marketing forum with the goal of getting your links into as many threads as possible. Most members can spot someone doing this right away. I can guarantee you won’t last long if you approach Internet marketing forums this way.

When joining a new Internet marketing forum it’s a good idea to just read the new posts for a few days to get a feel for the conversations there and to see who are the most active members, and to see who is actively doing forum marketing there.

Before you start posting it’s always a good idea to introduce yourself to the other members. There is usually a specific part of the forum dedicated to new user introductions. Just tell everyone a little bit about yourself so they will be more likely to recognize you when you start adding to the conversations later.

Of course make sure you read and understand any forum rules before you start posting. If you ignore doing this your forum marketing efforts are very likely to be abruptly cut short by one of the forum moderators.

Once you have a feel for the forum and you’ve introduced yourself you can start adding to the conversations. Just be yourself and try to add relative content to the conversations. Try to avoid adding one line responses like “I agree”.

It can take some time to start seeing results from participating in Internet marketing forums. That’s why it is important to try and stay active and visit your forums at least once every few days. It might take awhile but the information learned from forums and the relationships built from them can become invaluable to you in the future.

It is very well worth your time to become an expert in forum marketing.

On-Page Versus Off-Page SEO for high Google Rank

When we talk about optimizing a website, there are two entirely different schools of thought. Some people give more weight to on-page seo factors and then there are other people those who talk more about off-page seo factors.

Those who talk about on-page seo speak more about things like keyword optimization,using the right title tags, H1, H2 and H3tags, using the right fonts and images etc…

Then again people who believe more in off-page seo won't give much weight to all these points, but they will think more about generating more traffic through backlinking and other similar methods.

Now, the big question is–which of these schools of thoughts is correct, on-page seo or off-page seo?

Let me put it this way to you — if all your on-page seo factors are all in order and if you just get one backlink for your website, then you have everything that might take you to #1 on Google.

Yes, you read that right. You may need very little backlinking.

But, in contrast–what will the off-page seo advocates have to do?

In general terms, a website that doesn't use much of the on-page seo factors but trusts implicitly on off-page optimization will need to really pull its act together and do a lot of work to rank well and have a lot of visitor traffic.

Such a website will have to get maybe ten times more backlinks than the website that has great on-page seo factors.

The best way to go then is to concentrate on all those on-page seo factors just as the leaders in the Internet marketing world are already doing and telling everyone about.

How To Steal The High Traffic, Number 1 Position On Google

Judging by some recent emails I’ve received, it appears that getting traffic and ranking highly on Google is the biggest problem most people have.

Getting free search engine traffic is one of my favorite pastimes, so let me give you a few pointers about how to get more traffic and the best places to get your backlinks from.

First, if you’re not getting a lot of traffic, then the biggest mistakes I see most people making are: …..

* You’ve either picked a low competition keyword that also gets LOW number of searches a month on Google as your main keyword

You are competing against to high a competition for your keyword.

* You aren’t continuously building backlinks from a VARIETY of sources.

First Problem: Targeting A Low Traffic Keyword
============================================

The first one is the most common that I see.

When you’re doing your keyword research, you must make sure that your MAIN keyword is getting an acceptable amount of searches when searched as an EXACT PHRASE search.

Exact searches of “how to get your ex back”, means the person typed the phrase in exactly into google.

Don’t get this mixed up with the searches you see while doing a Broad search!

I always check Exact matches to make sure that if I put all this effort to make my keyword rank, it WILL get the kind of traffic that I want.

This is IMPORTANT!

If you realize that the keywords you have picked isn’t going to give you the kind of traffic that you want… ever. Then you need to change your keywords for your website.

Second Problem: Going after keywords that have too much competition.
==============================

I also check that the competition for that keyword is within my acceptable limits. Now you will hear various people say things like ‘under 50,000 results in google for an exact match, and others give higher numbers but this method of judging competition is very inexact and only tells half the story.

For an extreme example to illustrate my point, if one of those results is Wikipedia, and a few more of them at the top of page 1 are major authority sites, or sites with a gazillion backlink going to them you can kiss goodbye to having much chance to rank in the top 3 at google without months and months of effort.

The best way to check your chances of ranking easily in the top 3 at google, and this is where you need to be to get 80% odd of the traffic shown in the results for that keyword is with a dedicated research tool.

I’ve used most of them on the market at one time and another and the one I’ve settled on for simplicity, accuracy, speed, range of research functions and value for money is overviewed in the video you will find HERE. This video also provides some great free research and SEO training too

Third Problem: Getting more backlinks
==============================

When a site is new, start your backlinks off slowly. Only after your site is established, have been around for 6 months to a year and have hundreds of backlinks, can you then go all out with the different backlinking tools available.

My best tool, by a country mile, for building backlinks is the ‘Build My Rank‘ service which you can find HERE.

This is a private blog network that will put your articles onto high PR blogs within the network. Only drawback is these articles need to be unique, but you can easily outsource this. This service gives a lot of ranking power.

Lastly, I will add that cheap services on the Warrior Forum.com and Fiverr.com works really well too and they should not be overlooked. If your site is new, these are 2 of of the better places to start.

Tip: Build 80% to your main keywordsand 20% to your long tail secondary keywords.

Aim for a lot of traffic by picking the right keywords from the start. Use a good keyword tool, make sure your potential traffic is acceptable and that the competition you are going up against is acceptable. When you’ve found the balance between the two, the sweet spot, start to build your backlinks to your site – slowly at first on a new site.

Copywriting How To Connect With And Motivate Your Reader

Today, I want to talk to you a little bit about my ' copywriting how to ' – specifically about Emotion, Logic and the effect of The Lazy Sceptic, an often overlooked and undervalued part of your internet marketing arsenal.

Primarily, I want to give you a quick and easy set of guidelines that should help you construct your messages so they CONNECT with the reader on a deeper level, and MOTIVATE them to take the action you want.

Let me give you a disclaimer here right now. These are the principles I work to on a daily basis, but I don't lay claim to them as my original thoughts. They are based on an excellent teaching article by Andy Jenkins of Stompernet fame with a couple of twists that my results tracking has shown to work well for me.

The reason I think this is a GREAT time for you to learn a little about this is because our industry is going launch-crazy right now. Everyone who's anyone is trying to push one product or another and that's a great opportunity for anyone who wants to learn marketing.

I want to give you a simple way to break any promotional message down so you can see WHY and HOW it works, so you can better apply the same powerful tactics in your own messages. A ' Copywriting How To ' that you can use to increase your results.

So if that's something you're interested in, read on.

NOTE: Even if you think you're a swell copywriter already, you should still give this a look – consider it a refresher course – so you can make sure you already know this stuff inside and out.

Emotion: the "Old" Brain

Starting at the beginning, any time we message a prospect, our goal is to get them to DO SOMETHING for us. Whether it's clicking a link, or watching a video, or filling out a form – it doesn't matter. We want an ACTION. However, in order for us to get them to take that desired action, we need to CONVINCE them that they WANT to.

In order to MAXIMIZE your message's ability to get people to WANT to do something for you, then to actually DO it – you need to address two aspects of the reader's brain.

You need to appeal to EMOTION in order to create a desire for some kind of change – and you need to appeal to LOGIC to help them justify that desire and take action.

It's VITALLY important that you structure your messages in that order, too. Appeal to emotion first, THEN appeal to logic.

Here's why:

Our emotions come from a deeper, older part of our brain in terms of evolution. When you use storytelling to relate to people, when you talk to them about their struggles and pains, when you sympathize with them – those are all appeals to the Emotional part of the brain. It's a pretty simple system that controls those emotions – you could even say it's primitive.

But it's SO POWERFUL. People can practically be ENSLAVED by their own emotions. They often get the better of us, and they're incredibly reactionary and almost impossible for most people to control. People frequently throw logic and reason right out the window if they are emotionally charged enough.

And THAT'S why you want to appeal to emotion EARLY in your messaging. Emotion is a shortcut "inside" your prospect – if you get them to relate to you, if you show them that you know how they FEEL deep down, it triggers a powerful CONNECTION. You have their attention, and you have a rapport with them.

Love, envy, frustration – are all examples of powerful emotional responses. Appeal to those feelings – connect with those inner states in your prospect, and it will be very easy to create in them a DESIRE.

Most of the time, it doesn't even have to be a REASONABLE desire. As long as you can effectively connect with the RIGHT emotions in your target audience – if you can NAIL the way they REALLY feel and speak to that, you can make them WANT almost ANYTHING. It's like a magical spell.

But here's the hard part.

Once you have the prospect under your emotional spell, you need to break it. It simply can't be helped. You see, if you keep them in that wanting stage, where they're emotionally engaged, they won't ever do anything. You want them to take an ACTION now that you're tugging on their emotional strings.

Any time you do that, you're going to snap them out of their excited emotional state and you're going to wake up another part of their mind.

This part of the brain is the VILLAIN of our story here, and you're going to have to learn to deal with him if you ever want to have successful messaging.

The Lazy Skeptic

That's what I like to call this part of the brain – it acts like a "gatekeeper" to protect us from acting purely on emotion all the time (which is generally pretty bad for you). We all have this mechanism, and it does serve a useful purpose by keeping us out of trouble. However, as marketers, he's a BIG problem for us.

The reason why is because he will use his powers of LAZINESS and SKEPTICISM in order to keep that emotional part of the brain from acting on the desire we created earlier.

"Why should I bother?"

"This can't possibly be true."

That's the voice of the Lazy Skeptic – and I KNOW you've heard him whispering in your ear many times. I sure have.

But even though he's an obstacle, it's okay, because I'm going to tell you the perfect weapon to defeat him.

See, the Lazy Skeptic evolved much later than the emotional part of the brain. He functions logically and using reason, and that's the way he can sort of talk you out of impulsive decisions. People say they "came to their senses" or "thought better of it" when they listen to that Lazy Skeptic voice.

And that's the key to defeating him.

You need LOGIC to silence him, and you can use his own traits of laziness and skepticism against him.

Here's what I mean.

When you break the emotional spell you've cast on your prospects by asking them to take an action, use LOGIC and FACTS and FIGURES to justify that action.

Help them to validate that snap emotional decision by backing it up with common sense. Make them understand that what they want to do is perfectly reasonable, and that EVERYONE in their situation would take that same action.

When copywriting teachers tell you to write tons of bullets of features and benefits when you're selling a product – that's what those bullets are really for: ammunition to help gun down the Lazy Skeptic.

You want to also turn his own powers against him. Appeal to the inherent laziness in everyone by talking about how easy it is for the prospect to take the desired action. Appeal to their sense of skepticism by agreeing that it SOUNDS too good to be true, but it isn't.

Guarantees and Testimonials are both tools in the same arsenal here, helping you overcome the prospect's inner doubts.

Deep down, they WANT to act on the desire you planted, you just need to help them realize it's SAFE to do it. That it's OKAY to do it. It even helps if you can prove OTHER PEOPLE have done it with success.

Logic for Dummies

Now, some of you may be worried about having to use logic, and I know that can sound all academic and intimidating, but it's really not.

You're not trying to win a debate – you're just trying to help your prospect see that the desire you created in them makes sense. A lot of times, if you were very effective with your emotional appeal, you barely have to try.

Sometimes all it takes is "because". "Do this because it's cool." "You know you want to."

However, be aware that the more complex and risky your requested action is, the MORE justification you're going to need to help your prospect act on their desire.

High Prices
High Risk
High Investment

Those are all factors that the Lazy Skeptic is going to have a problem with, but face them head-on, give reasons WHY those steps need to be taken, and you'll do fine.

"Our prices are high because of our incredible quality."
"We have a no-risk guarantee."
"It takes only minutes a day."

See, generally speaking, even though the Lazy Skeptic is more complex and "smarter" than the old emotional brain – he's still kind of a dummy. It really doesn't have to be a world-class PHD Thesis to convince him to stand aside – it just has to pass for common sense.

As an added bonus, I'll give you a "secret shortcut" when coming up with logical appeals.

Use as many comparisons and analogies as you can when justifying your prospects desires and validating the action you want them to take.

The reason is, they act like short-hand that the not-so-smart Lazy Skeptic can quickly absorb and understand.

For example, if you're selling something and you have the lowest price, don't say:

"We have the lowest price."

Say, "Our price is 10% lower than the nearest competitor."

Don't say "Our course is easy to read and learn with."

Say "Our course is so easy to learn, it's like downloading the information directly into your brain."

These kinds of comparisons and analogies aren't just cute talk, and copywriters don't just include them to be clever.

They work by providing SUPERIOR justification.

Your prospect will be saying in his inner voice – "I really want this product because it will make me feel good. And it's okay to get it, because it's the cheapest one out there, and lots of other people are buying it too!"

The job of your messaging is to help your prospect complete that inner conversation between the different parts of his brain, so that from his point of view, he's just acting on his own deep desires.

In actuality, through careful appeals to Emotion (Old Brain) and Logic (New Brain) – you've gotten him to act the way YOU wanted him to.

Now, once your prospect TAKES that action, you need to make sure you DELIVER on the expectations you've set up. You NEVER want to let a prospect's Lazy Skeptic get to say "I told you so."
