The Seeds Of Success

A question I hear a lot is "Allan, how do I tell who I should be working with in my team?" or the related question "How do I tell who's serious about their business?"

With the size of my affiliate team here in 12SC and in my other businesses I'm probably in a great position to be able to help you with those questions so that you don't have to worry and guess, and so that you won't be wasting energy 'flogging a dead horse' or annoying your affiliates who may, for many reasons, not be pushing their business hard at any particular time.

So what are the 'Seeds Of Success', those little pointers that tell you who's serious, and who has enough desire and self discipline to make serious money (for them, and to a smaller extent, for you) from 12SC (or any other multi-tier affiliate program).

Seed 1: They choose to become one of the businesses 'family'. They attend the regular trainings or, if there's a real reason they can't make it, they ask you what's the best alternative. This is probably the MOST important seed!

Seed 2: They choose to become one of *your* team. They make contact, ask questions, and act on your advice. They argue when they feel they're right. They participate with you.

Seed 3: They take consistent action. *Any* action to move their business forward. because *any action* is better than no action. Nothing happens without action. One of my multimillionaire mentors once said to me "Allan, your commitment to your strategy is more important that the strategy itself". Your commitment.

Seed 4: They are open, ethical and honest. They 'walk the walk'. I have a saying 'Your actions speak so loudly I cannot hear the words you say'. Look for what people do, not what they say they will do.

Seed 5: They have character. They don't whine and blame others when the going gets tough, *they* get tough and they get going.

Seed 6: They don't wallow in negative thoughts and emotions. They know they can control their mind and their attitudes, and they take control.

Seed 7: They are willing to learn. Nobody! knows all there is to be successful in life, or in this business. As my mentor, the late Jim Rohn, says 'Don't be lazy in learning'

Seed 8: They engage in an an ongoing program of personal development. The person we are today got us to where we are today. To get where we want to be tomorrow, we must change who we are. To attract success we must become an attractive person.

These are very simple things, and all you need to do is look for these 'seeds of success' in your team and you'll never be left wondering again.

Of course the first thing you must do is look at your self before you expect leadership from others.. Good leaders are great followers. You need to ask your self 'Do I have the seeds of success?'. 'Am I leading by example?'.

The best TIP I can give you

I received a great question this week from Steve who asked “What’s the best tip you can give someone starting out?”

Several obvious answers came to mind – all related to taking action and ‘just get going’ but the answer I settled on was:

“Set yourself achievable goals”

There is no point in starting with a target of $10,000 a month, it just won’t happen quick enough for you and you’ll get disillusioned. Start with $5 a day, then $10 a day then move up to $20 a day. These targets can easily be achieved and they will spur you on.

One of the targets I recommend is trying to earn $100 a day earlier each month. Several of my team have had great success with this. People who were earning $100 on the 25th of the month a few months back are now getting there by the 6th or 7th.

Another way you can make targets achievable is to turn them into goals from general dreams. Change, I want to own a $1,000,000 home into I want to earn an extra $200 each day to pay the mortgage/rent on a $1 million home.

Believe me $200 is much more achievable than $1,000,000
It’s only 4 or 5 Clickbank sales a day, or the commissions on a small team of your affiliates in 12SecondCommute.

Are you holding YOURSELF back?

Today I want the share with you a simple technique that changed my life in so many ways and which, if you choose to use it, will take all the limits off your ability to grow and profit from your online business.

Let me say that again. “Will take ALL THE LIMITS off”

Are you holding yourself back? Do you often ‘nearly succeed’ only to fall just before the finish line? Have you ever made a decision, or set a goal, only to see yourself slip, little bit by little bit, away from taking the actions you know you have to take to succeed? Have you ever made excuses for yourself, saying things like “It would have been good but I couldn’t do it because ………..”

Have you ever wondered why you set out with such good intentions, determined to succeed, only to find you’ve missed the mark once again?

Here’s my good news. It doesn’t have to be that way any more! If you take on board this simple technique and put it into practice for a few minutes each day ANYTHING you desire can be yours.

For those of you who haven’t run across my story, here’s the short version.

“Born in Southern New Zealand, the eldest son of two alcoholic, and one violently abusive parent, Allan grew up with low self esteem and self worth, and a tendency to be an angry and violently inclined young man himself.

In 2005 Allan discovered the power of personal development and used the principles to turn his life, his attitude and his self esteem around and develop into the person he is known to be today. He gives all credit for this to Jim Rohn, the acclaimed business philosopher, who became his primary mentor and example.”

Now that’s all very well, but it doesn’t say exactly what I did to turn a life of modest achievement around and to build an unstoppable self worth, self esteem and self confidence, so let me rectify that now.

What made all the difference?

I discovered I could reprogram my self destructive thoughts. I learned how to control my mind.

Initially I was skeptical that this could work, it all seemed a bit mystical to me, but I decided to try it to get my weight under control, something I had tried to do time and time again only to find that, long term, I ended up back right were I started or worse.

I set the goal to reduce my weight from 118 KG to 96KG by 8 June 2005 when I was due to come out from my contract in the highlands of Papaua New Guinea and meet my wife for a holiday break together in Surfers Paradise, Australia. That’s a reduction of 22KG (about 50 pounds) over a period of 12 weeks, way above anything I had managed to achieve before.

Now stick with me here – I did it by reprogramming what I said when I talked to myself. I reprogrammed those thousands of thoughts that go through our minds each and every day, my self talk.

And slowly the skepticism started to fall away as the little voice inside that kept telling me things like ‘Come on Allan, you’ve never managed to get your weight off and keep it off before’ started to go silent and my ACTIONS started to change!

I started exercising daily, and my diet, almost without my knowing it, started to change.

During the 12 weeks I deliberately didn’t weigh myself.

And the result was?

On 8 June I stepped on a scale outside a pharmacy in ‘Surfers’ and, before dropping my dollar into it, asked my wife to tell me what it read.

96KG — and I immediately become a believer!

And my weight has remained off right up until today – because my thoughts and my actions have been changed permanently.

I’ve since used the self talk techniques in several areas of my business and personal life with great success and recommend it to you as one of the most powerful success methods you will ever come across.

Be Willing To Face The Numbers.

Have you ever had one of those ‘Ah-Ha’ moments where
you say to yourself “That’s so simple!, so why aren’t
I doing it?”

“I want my business to explode, I want to be financially free
so why am I missing something so important, and so obvious?”

“Why haven’t I faced the numbers?”

Have you ever noticed how often it’s the simple things that
trip us up?

That we sometimes get bogged down doing the things we enjoy
in our business, and that bring us satisfaction – but may not
move our business forward.

I don’t know about you, but I seem to do it all the time,
I get involved in trying out some new idea or method that’s
bandied about in chat groups, forums, social networks or
arrives in my inbox, and time moves on.

Or I continue to do the same things this week as I did last
week, this month as I did last month. It’s called habit.

Here’s the problem with habits. Habits can be good, or they
can be bad.

In business bad habits are the comfortable ones, the easy
ones, the unthinking ones that don’t drive your business
forward.

There’s a saying ‘Nothing changes, if nothing changes’ and
if your business isn’t growing at the speed you would like
maybe it’s time for a change.

The question is? How do I know when it’s time to make
changes, and how can I stop habit dragging me along the
same old, unproductive, path.

I would council you now to take a pen and paper
and decide – how will you face the numbers?

Today Is Your Day!

This post is by Charlie Page, 10 successful years online, and the owner of the ‘Directory Of Ezines’ which I recommend to anyone who is promoting any product, program or service in ezines – as you should be in your early days when your own list is still small.

Why?

Because advertising in ezines allows you to ‘borrow’ the larger, and more established lists of others, and put your promotion in front of their receptive eyes, at often very reasonable rates.

In doing so you can explode your business much quicker than the many free but very time consuming methods most new starters online are using.

Your list may only have a few hundred readers in the early days, where as through the Directory of Ezines you can quickly find good ezines with thousands of readers.

You do have to exercise some caution in deciding which ezine to use, as a few unscrupulous owners inflate their subscriber numbers, or have poorly maintained the list and it’s became unresponsive over time.

Then you have the problem of where do you find the good ones?, comparing costs with others, finding the size of post/ad allowed, and the myriad of other details you need to be able to make an intelligent decision.

The Directory Of Ezines (DOE) provides an extensive, searchable, database of hundreds of ezines listing all their details – ie, name, web address, readership numbers, readership types (home business, MLM, real estate, whatever), frequency of posting and what day(s), format (text or html, special offers for DOE members, cost of insertion etc.

I’ve been a member for four years now and highly recommend it as a way of saving time, saving money by enabling better business decisions, and in allowing you to get the best ‘bang for your buck’

A final hint: As with any new advertising source when you use it for the first time, the same applies with ezines, always test a small trail purchase for yourself by using your ad tracker within the 12SecondCommute tools suite so that you can see in your individual situation, with your ad writing skills, and your product, program or service etc how well it does.

TODAY IS YOUR DAY!

By Charlie Page Every day I hear from people who are struggling to make money online. They bought the programs and listened to the advice but are still coming up short.

These are good people, real people, who have been beaten down by the hyped-up websites that promise them near-instant riches if they will only “join now”.

They are discouraged and are left to wonder if all online marketers simply lie to make money and don’t care at all about their customers.

You might know someone who feels this way, or might feel this way yourself. If so, this message is for you.

I’m here to tell you that you can succeed online no matter what your current circumstances say to you or how badly others have treated you!

How can I say that when so many people are working hard and still not making any money online? When so many are being ripped off and now have nothing to work with and little hope of making it?

Because I see it happening every day.

I see people who think they are too old, too broke, too sick or too tired and beat up to begin the transformation from hype to hope.

I see them move from being confused and afraid they will “miss it” to making real progress – not a one time fluke but progress they can repeat over and over again.

Let me share with you what I believe.

I believe there has never been a greater opportunity to make money online than exists today. I should know; I’ve been making a full time living working online for over 10 years.

These are just a few of the many reasons I believe you can succeed online. But let me share my #1 reason with you.
You can succeed online because humans were created to be overcomers!

I fully believe that NOW is your time. That THIS is your year to shine!

Is it hard to work online? Sure, it takes work and learning new skills, some time and a little money.

But that will not stop you!

Are there thieves online? You bet! Too many websites promise the moon only to deliver disappointment and heartache. Far too many take your money and never even answer your email or provide any real help or support.

But we won’t let that stop us!

I want you to join me today in setting a new course.

Today is the day we forgive.

Today is the day we forget the wrongs of the past and write a new story.

Today is the day we make a list of what is right with us and capitalize on our strengths and not our weaknesses.

I know that it can be hard to hold your head up high and declare today as your day of victory. I know the challenges you face because I have been there too.

I was so sick there were entire days I could not get out of bed. But I kept trying.

I was so broke that people from my church brought presents to my house so my kids could have Christmas.

I was so discouraged that I honestly felt it was over for me – that I had my chance and it didn’t work out.

I remember one night literally saying to myself “at least you had it good for a while” and thinking it was time to accept the “reality” of forever being broke and sick and depressed.

MY FRIEND – THAT WAS A LIE! I kept on fighting and today I am free from debt, free from sickness and we are doing very well indeed.

I won’t give specifics or show you my Clickbank screenshot like the hype boys do but let’s just say that we are not living in a rent house anymore.

Based on my own experience, and based on literally thousands of members I have counseled I want to tell you five truths that you might not feel are true right now.

I want you to meet Claudette. At 83 she truly is a shining swan of a person. Whenever I speak with her I am lifted by her love of life and her undeniable spirit. Sure, working online is a challenge for someone of her age but you can bet your last nickel that fact won’t defeat her!

Claudette is a realist. She knows that she will never master the computer the way a 23 year old would so she does what she can. Instead of trying to build a website from scratch and learning HTML she focuses on blogs, knowing that if you can type you can have a blog. And she can type after all! So she does what she can.

How about Ivan? Ivan is another octogenarian. Ivan was 85 last time we spoke and going as strong as ever. You see, Ivan works in the health and wellness field and is a living testimonial for his anti-aging products.

What do Ivan and Claudette tell me?

You are not too old to succeed online!

>>> YOU ARE NOT TOO SICK

How I wish you could meet Mindy. She has cancer and so is focusing on marketing passive income products so that her family has something to count on when she is gone.

Incredible.

In my own life there were times when a good day meant I could work 2 hours before basically collapsing and needing to sleep 20 hours. Was it hard? You bet. But I worked those 2 hours and never gave up. It was that burning desire, and God’s blessing, that took me from being a member of the Directory of Ezines to owning the company less than 18 months later.

Believe me, you are not too sick to succeed online. Do what you can when you can and rest when you must.

>>> YOU ARE NOT TOO BROKE

When I bought my DOE membership it was hard to come up with the fee. To say it was a sacrifice would be grossly understating the truth. My wonderful wife thought I had lost my mind. How was this membership going to help us?

I had so few resources that all I could afford was article marketing since there was no fee to send articles to ezines. And send them I did.

On days I was well enough to work I would write articles. And write articles. And write articles. Then I would send them, hoping and praying they would be read.

They were read and soon readers became visitors and visitors became customers.

It was hard but it worked.

Little did I know that less than 18 months later my wife and I would buy the company, enabling the founder to retire and achieve her dream.

Today there is social media (oh how I wish I had Twitter and Facebook in 1999!) and even more no-cost ways to promote.

Believe me when I tell you – you are not too broke to succeed online.

>>> YOU ARE NOT TOO TIRED

I know you are tired. Tired of the lies. Tired of the hype. Tired of trying things that don’t work. But you are not too tired!

For you the time may have come to stop working so hard on things that don’t work and focus on things that are proven to work.

I get tired too. Not everything I try works the first time either. But when results do come they build me up – giving me the strength and encouragement to keep going.

If you are tired today take time to rest. Pushing on and spending countless hours at your keyboard (especially if they are late night hours) will not be productive.

When you are rested and ready make a list of the top five things you want to accomplish today and start on item #1, not stopping or even thinking of anything else until it is finished.

Let focus and passions become your allies and you will banish tiredness from your vocabulary.

Rest when you must and work with passion and focus.

I know this much to be true – the opportunity online is just starting. You have not missed it. And you have not missed the “good days” either when things were “easy”.

You have not missed it.

Things were never easier than now. There have never been more tools at your disposal than now. There has never been a bigger market than now.

You have not missed it.

As the song says, “these are the good old days” whether we want them to be or not. Today is the day we will look back on and reminisce. The only real question now is whether we will remember today fondly or feel that we wasted yet another opportunity.

Here is my viewpoint on where you stand right now.

* You are not finished yet.
* You have a great story to write.
* You have a great future to build.

Never surrender your dream. Never let go of your goal. Never quit.

Winston Churchill had it right when he said that his people should “never surrender”. I love his quote about surrender and his equally famous quote “the nose of the bulldog has been slanted backwards so it can breathe without letting go”.

Be that bulldog. Breathe and have your life but never ever let go. Never surrender.

Let me leave you with these words by Henry David Thoreau.

“I have learned, that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. “

Success is not made up of the grand gesture – the bold move or big product launch or the perfect ad that hits the target. Those things are fun when they happen but they are not the stuff of life or the building blocks of success.

Success is made up of doing the little things every day. Success comes from doing what you can today, knowing that doors will open as you need them.

Success comes from being willing to learn what you need to learn and being willing to do what you need to do.

Success comes from following a proven path, knowing in your heart that if good things can happen for the Charlie Page’s of the world there is no reason they can not or will not happen for you too.

Go out today – right now – and move confidently in the direction of your dream. Then get up tomorrow and do it again. Soon you will find that you are succeeding on YOUR terms.

And that is a beautiful thing indeed!

I fully concur with Charlies post! You CAN do it. If you are willing to do the small things consistently, and persist – until it is done!.

The freedom and success I’ve achieved has not been through some innate abilities (some of you know my story, poorly educated, low self esteem etc), or through luck. It was through taking action (the small steps), failing, trying again, finding a mentor, committing and persisting over time.

As Winston Churchill said, in my favourite quote, ” Never Give up! “

2010. Success For Some, For Others. For You??

Is success a giant step to take? An impossible leap? Or is success simply the result of a series of little steps taken over time to change, to take action and to move forward.

I want to use my own story, briefly, to illustrate that success is obtainable to all, if you’re willing to take small and simple steps consistently.

Born on a farm in Southern New Zealand, the son of two alcoholic parents, with a father who was abusive and violent when drunk, born right handed and strapped out of it by a brutal teacher of the ‘old school’ type, I grew up with low self esteem, built in anger, a tendency toward violence, and a dismal record at both primary and secondary schools, in the end not even graduating from what my American friends call, I think, Junior High.

Married, two children, a lousy father and husband, constantly seeking security of a ‘good job’, a surface thinker that formed all his views and beliefs from what he saw on the TV that occupied most of his evenings, I developed an attitude that the world was full of ‘fat cats’ out to get me.

To say I had a negative attitude was an understatement!

I was the guy in winter who ran around turning the room thermostats down saying to my uncomfortable family “Any higher is just a waste of money”

At about 40, after years of limited success professionally, socially and in my family life, a friend gave me a copy of a book by Shad Helmstetter called ‘What to say when you talk to yourself’

The central principle was that the constant chatter of our thoughts and spoken words form our beliefs and consequently our self image and our actions, but that we could change any belief by using positive affirmations daily.

Initially that was all too mystical to me and I put it aside, as any negative thinking skeptic like myself tends to do.

It did sow a seed in my mind though, the thought that there had to be a better way of thinking, a way that would lead to a better and happier life.

But success to me seemed to be a huge challenge! Let’s face it, up till now I hadn’t seen much of it at all. My experience was ‘getting by’, ‘making do’, ‘saving money’, ‘blaming others’, ‘life’s tough’

And then two mentors came into my life. One was a multi-millionaire I met through a short stint in multi-level marketing, and the other was a country boy from Idaho in the United States called Jim Rohn.

Jim exposed me to a series of principles that were so profound, yet so practical and simple they changed my life and I began to learn about what he called ‘Personal Development’

Personal development, those little steps you take daily to change your life. To change any area of your life.

The little steps where you say to yourself “That’s not so difficult, I could learn that, I could do that”

And little by little your life starts to change. Just a decision, small steps and action.

I won’t bore you with my success, as a reader of this blog you have a fair idea of that, but I will say that I went back to Shad’s book finally, put it into action, changed several limiting beliefs and found I could control my mind, and in doing so, change my future.

But back to those little steps.

You have to smile – Boxing Day Shopping Crowds

Is it the same where you live?

Boxing day and swarms of people are swarming into the
malls and shopping centers to pick up the ‘Boxing Day Specials’

The TV screams ’50% off – Boxing Day Only’

And they’re willing to endure the crowds, the ill tempered
shop assistants, the rude shoppers, the rush, the accidents in
the car parks, their Credit Cards taking another huge hit, to
‘save’ a few dollars!

My mentor, Jim Rohn, once said to HIS mentor “Every thing’s so
expensive now!”

To be told by “No Jim, they’re not expensive, you just can’t
afford them”

Think about that for a moment.

Why do people rush out on Boxing day to grab these, so called,
specials?

Because they can’t afford them at the full price they will pay
be for the rest of the year!

I used to rush around in winter turning the thermostats in my
home down, saying “Higher is just a waste of money”

Truth was, I just couldn’t afford the bill.

A ‘save’ mentality, not a ‘earn more’ more mentality.

And as I sit here a few year later, very relaxed, sipping a great PinotNoir, I thought of you and that, maybe, I could offer you a gift
beyond any price – the ability to never have to struggle through
the crowds to grab the specials, never to have to turn
your families thermostats down.

Instead the vehicle, and the motivation to say “Damn It! I will
NEVER let others dictate my income and my future. I will take it
onto my own hands and succeed in my own business in association
with the 12SecondCommute.

If I did give you something today, my day is complete.

6. If money is your motivation, forget it.

7. Never hand over your power to someone else.

8. Rid yourself of your addictions-whether they are food,
alcohol, drugs or behavior habits.

9. Seek harmony and compassion in your business and
personal life.

10. Surround yourself with people who are as smart or
smarter than you.
