In the midst of my two months holiday wandering the world, luxury cruising in Norwegian and Arctic waters with family members including my first granddaughter, and enjoying the freedom of being able to make my own choices about how I wish to live my life , I struggling to think of what I could write this week that would be of real value to you as one of my valued affiliates/readers.
It would be easy for me to tell you what a great time I had living in the Little India area of Singapore a couple of weeks ago, enjoying the sights, smells of the spices, and visiting with the locals in the tiny street cafes but,while that’s fun for me, it does little for you as you work to improve your financial situation, or to gain your complete freedom, if that’s your wish.
The thought come to me however that maybe if I shared the most important things that could have easily destroyed my dream of freedom, maybe it would help you avoid the same pitfalls.
Here’s the two things I now realize could have killed my progress stone dead:
* A lack of dissatisfaction about my current lifestyle.
Ten years ago if I had been perfectly happy in my job, it may have been different, maybe I would have never changed for the better. Never have started looking for alternatives to a life of modest achievement and little satisfaction. But I wasn’t satisfied. I was, at that time, very security conscious and the thought of anyone being able to say (again) ‘Sorry Allan, but times are tough and we’re having to let staff go’ wasn’t acceptable to me and I knew as the years went by and my age crept up that getting rehired was going to be more and more difficult. I had tasted redundancy once already, and like many of you, had not enjoyed the experience.
I went on to start my own one man (offline) business to get better control of my situation before starting my journey online – but after a while realized that it didn’t really solve the problem in that if I couldn’t work through sickness or any other reason my income would drop to nil. And who wants to work 50-60 hours a week for the rest of their life anyway!
In short something had to change, and I had to be the one to change it, because it was obvious that no one else would, not my employer, not my friends, not my business competitors, and certainly not the government.
* Lack of a dream. That burning desire to do better for myself, my family and my causes.
Now this is the big one, and I realize now if I had got this one wrong, I wouldn’t have been able to succeed to anywhere near the level I have. As luck would have it I had started to read personal development books, and stories of successful people, and stumbled one day on the simple principle that changed my life.
Now here is where I want you to pay attention. Because if you do, it will change your life too.
In ANY area of your life, but in particular it will explode your success online.
Why?
Because it will give you the desire, the drive and the self discipline to do what has to be done, consistently, to go from modest success to overwhelming success.
To do what as to be done! Yep, sorry, success requires focused efforts over time.
This principle is the fuel that will accelerate your online vehicle into outer space, beyond the gravity that’s holding you back, into the easy cruise to any destination of your choice.
And the rocket fuel is?
It’s the power of a clearly visualized dream that you have written down and review often!
You may have heard this before, but let’s break this down into it’s important components:
Clearly visualized:
This is no hazy wish, fleeting and soon gone ‘I wish I could go on a Mediterranean Cruise this year’ or similar. This is something you’ve taken time to think over carefully and fully. It’s that ‘thing’ that stirs your emotion, maybe brings tears to your eyes. It engages you at a visceral level.
It stirs your emotions.
And you find it in the quiet of extended contemplation in your ‘peaceful place’. It is never found casually or in the midst of distractions.
Some call it daydreaming and it’s similar but more than that because it has a purpose. And that purpose is to design your life.
What would your perfect day be? Your week and year. Your perfect life.
Think it, feel it.
And ignore the voice that keeps telling you it’s impossible. ALL things are possible if you will only believe, and you will act enthusiastically on the belief, as many have examples shown. (You can study them if you wish – Colonel Sanders KFC, Thomas Edison, Martin Luther King and many more)
Written down:
Don’t ignore this! By writing down the dream you define it. You turn it from thoughts to facts in the process of being achieved. Writing it down clarifies and defines your thinking, giving it shape and form. In effect you turn it into something tangible, that just needs to be done to realize it.
Review often:
You have to feed your dream regularly. Don’t just file that piece of paper away to get lost and forgotten in the distractions of life. Make a point to regularly take it out in a quiet time, and to relive again the emotion of it’s achievement. Let the emotion energize you.
Place a representation of the dream somewhere where you can see it daily. Near your computer maybe or as I have done, within my 12SC back office.
