It’s probably true to say that when most people think of making money on the web, they generally think of affiliate marketing, but many overlook, or don’t know about, the tremendous advantages of 2-Tier affiliate marketing programs. I hope to overcome that in this post because if you wish to be making money on the web, particularly making residual incomes, you should not overlook the special advantages of multi-tier affiliate programs.
As Wikipedia puts it, ‘Two-tier programs exist in the minority of affiliate programs; most are simply one-tier. Referral programs beyond two-tier resemble multi-level marketing (MLM) or network marketing but are different: Multi-level marketing (MLM) or network marketing associations tend to have more complex commission requirements/qualifications than standard affiliate programs.’
Let me try to simplify that:
A 2 tier affiliate program is one you where you earn money on your own sales as well as on the sales of affiliates that you recruit. Typically you make about 50% on your personal sales, but you also make about 10% on the sales of your personally recruited affiliates.
An important distinction here is that this is not multi level marketing (MLM). In a affiliate program you are only paid on sales made by your immediate recruits. In multi level marketing you are paid on many levels below you.
Lets take a look at some of the pros and cons of 2 tier affiliate marketing programs, and what can make them some of the most profitable products to be involved with as a way of making money on the web.
1. You will earn money on the sales of affiliates that you recruit – residual incomes.
This allows you to multiply your efforts. You’re only able to do so many sales a month personally, but if you were to also have 150 affiliates underneath you all selling just think about how much more money you would earn. There is only so much money that can be paid out and by spreading it out over 2 levels it takes away from the first tier commissions but, as I said before, managed correctly this is not a problem.
There are several good 2 tier affiliate programs on the market today and if you enjoy building small teams they are an excellent way of working towards your financial freedom. The ones that produce the most for me are 12SC (actually a 3 tier program), the excellent Mst2tier program (has lifetime commissions) and Get More Momentum, and I recommend them all highly as a way of making money on the web.
