Training
The second vital Pillar Of Success online is Training.
But not just any training (and lord knows there’s a swarm of it out there on the web) but training that concentrates on ONE proven plan that’s shown itself to to put cash consistently in the pockets of those who’ve taken the time to learn it, focus on it and commit to taking consistent action until the plan has become almost second nature and produced extraordinary results.
This is not about ‘I’ll try’. It’s about ‘I will until’. Until it’s done before moving on to other methods, strategies, niches etc. etc.
The killer of a great majority of online businesses is a lack of focus, and a lack of commitment. The constant jumping from one idea, program or company to another. The ‘I’ll try this and see if it works’ mentality.
Does a student Doctor succeed through jumping on the Day Trading bandwagon after a year? Or a dentist 18 months into training who decides to ‘give interior decorating a go’? Or an electrician (my old job) after two and a half years (half way through in my day) get sidetracked into driving trucks?
Of course not, they all ’stay the course’ until the jobs done and they graduate as a professional.
And, think about it for a moment. None of them have that wonderful combination of income and personal freedom you can have through staying the course and focusing on one thing at a time!
Learn, commit, focus and you can have it all.
Let me touch, very quickly for the moment, on what you need learn and what you need to do to put real money in your pocket, and to set yourself up for ongoing success in your internet marketing business:
1) Identify one, or maybe two, affiliate programs that offer your customers superb quality and effectiveness, while providing you as the affiliate with great financial returns – preferably providing residual incomes.
2) Develop a simple ‘capture’ page where you will offer an incentive for people to subscribe to your newsletter.
2) Using an autoresponder, develop a series of emails you will post regularly to your subscribers, within which you will develop a trusting business relationship with those subscribers and provide them with superb free content and the cost effective and quality products / services the affiliate program offers.
3) Locate and use only the most effective methods to get targeted potential buyers to view your capture page and subscribe. This is often referred to as ‘driving traffic’ to a site.
4) Constantly track the results, and any costs involved, of your efforts by using a tracking service that will let you determine the ‘action’ results – the number of people who subscribe to your newsletter and who buy products from your emails versus the costs of making that happen.
5) After you done it successfully for one, maybe two, related affiliate products and put a pile of cash in your pocket, rinse and repeat. Select another affiliate program and / or product and do it again.
6) At the risk of boring you, let me say again – commit and focus on one plan until it’s done!
What I’ve just skimmed past you is the most successful way to begin an internet marketing career. In fact for most successful internet marketers, myself included (modest grin) it remains the largest source of ongoing income. By building a list, and offering affiliate products to willing buyers.
Once you’ve enjoyed success through list building and affiliate marketing by all means branch out into the many other areas online (niche marketing, social marketing, adwords, own products, plr creation etc etc).
But, first things first, get plenty of cash rolling in on an ongoing basis (residual income) before branching out into other areas.
So, what do you need to get started? You will need:
1) A comprehensive suite of marketing tools.
2) Training on how to build a list and select the best affiliate program(s)
3) Successful methods to drive swarms of traffic to your capture page.
4) Personal Development – to develop and maintain your motivation and self discipline.
And you will find more information and my recommendations on all of these in other areas on this site. Now’s a good time to start exploring them (grin).
However, my number one recommendation for training is to attend the weekly live training conferences included as part of your 12SC Professional Marketing Suite.
These conferences will teach you how to use all the tools in the suite, and to associate with and draw on the experience of other members at all levels of experience. Make them, and all the other training within your 12SC account, your first port of call, and use the training on this blog to add to it, and to make sure you are exactly on track and following the Three Pillars Of Success.
